HA4 Task 6 - Evaluation

Evaluation

When it comes to evaluating this advert which I made I think it will be quite simple and straight forward. A basic overview of how I made this project come together was quite easy, to start I decided to pick an object of desire which is what the task is about. After deciding on a magazine I then did an ideas generation and came up with several ideas of which I could promote a magazine. Now that I had all my ideas I then picked the best one and then started to draw the story board. When it came to the filming I realised that I wasn't 100% happy with the way I did it, so I decided to add a few changes here and there and over all it came out better than I expected. So when comparing the storyboard to the actual advert is it different in some ways but also very similar.

Now onto filming, choosing the filming was quite difficult because of weather conditions and if I could get my actors to all be free at the same time, but all was good and well and we could finally make our way down Irlam moss. I would say filming took about 1-3 hours which is very good in my opinion because I got more shots that planned this meaning I had more to play with when editing.

Editing was the best part for, watching all the clips and then watching your idea come to life. To start this process off I needed to choose a song that would fit the style of the video, after looking through my recent song and albums I listened to i finally decided on Clean Bandit's Heart on fire. Now the song was chosen I then started to edit away. The part of the video where the three faces appear next to each other I did in  Adobe After Effects, after editing this to work I then imported it back into premiere.

Now that the advert was edited, completed and exported I then uploaded it to YouTube. After this was done I embedded it onto my blog and then decided to get some feedback so I can find out my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to this project. So to get feedback i created a survey on surveymonkey asking general questions and what people thought out my advert. Overall the feedback was very good and some good points were made and reading these comments made me think and know that improvement could be made.

Overall I am very happy with the outcome of my advert and really enjoyed filming and editing it to be the best.

HA4 Task 5 - Post - Production

ELLE Magazine Advert (Object of Desire)

When it comes to giving feedback about my advert, I got lots of verbal feedback saying it was really good and how they liked the style of the video. Now that I had verbal feedback I then decided to get written and to do this I made a questionnaire that asked some questions about the video basically giving it rating and likes/dislikes that i could take about in my evaluation.

Here is my feedback which I received from my advert:

HA4 Task 2 - Ideas Generation

Ideas Generation

(Mind Map)

This is my mind map of ideas, my idea is a way to promote the VOGUE fashion magazine. I decided to do the first idea which features 3 models which will be 3 of my friends all dressed in differant styles of clothing.

Chosen idea Mood Board

This is the storyboard which relates to my first idea, as i stated above it will feature three of my friends who will be the models in the production of this. 3 styles of clothing will be used in the advert, Classy, Casual and Skater. It will be a fast moving advert so it will have short and quick clips, different angles and shots etc. The VOGUE magazine will be featured in the advert giving the viewers a brief idea of what its about.

HA4 Task 1 - Research for Production

Research Production

Idea #1

When researching for object's to desire I first thought of earphones so I decided to look at most bought earphones and most popular. I researched this on the web and found this information:

After all the research I gathered i found out that Apple Earpod's are very popular because they come with the iPhone and this is because iPhone's are very popular in today's society.

Idea #2

My second idea relates to a magazine company. It will be based around a fashion magazine like Vogue or Elle. The advert will be based on the models clothing as well as the magazine which will the be in the frame at most times.

Examples of videos which I want my advert to be similar too:

YSL - Cara Delevinge & Jourdan Dunn

The advert above, the things i like most about this is the shots which were used and how fast the cuts were. I like how the location was used and how dark and mysterious it came across to the viewes.

HA3 Task 8 - Audience Classification

Audience Classification

There are a range of techniques that you can be used to classify audiences for the TV advertising industry. This is referred to as Audience Profiling.

This allows the researcher to find out the profile of the audience before hand so that you can put across your message to the right people in the most effective way to produce the best result.

It might include details like age, sex, educational qualification, work experience, financial background, field of work, interests, mood, orientation, bias, food habits, religious background, physique, health condition etc.

Demographics   A way a of describing a group of people according to factors such as age, gender, ethnicity, occupation, social class and sexual orientation.

Here is a example of how demographic classification would work:

Geodemographics A way of describing a group of people based on where they live, sometimes organised according to postcode. Geodemographic systems estimate the most probable characteristics of people based on the pooled profile of all people living in a small area near a particular address.

Psychodemographics - A way of describing a group of people based on their attitudes, opinions and lifestyle. Psychographics labels a particular type of person and makes an assessment about their viewing and spending habits. The advertising agency Young and Rubican invented a successful psychographic profile known as their 4C’s  Marketing Model, which stands for Cross Cultural Consumer Characterisation.Their put the audience into groups with labels that suggest their position in society.
